How these terms work

These are AFG Aluminium's standard terms. Your accepted quotation, approved schedule and any written variations form the agreement for your project. Where a quotation expressly differs from this page, the quotation-specific term applies.

Nothing on this page limits rights or remedies that cannot be excluded under the Consumer Protection Act or other applicable law.

01

Quotations, scope and acceptance

A quotation covers only the products, quantities, specifications and site work expressly listed in it. Unless specifically priced, removal, structural alterations, access equipment, scaffolding, specialist work, making good and other additional work are excluded.

Please check all descriptions, dimensions, quantities, colours, glass specifications, opening configurations and supply or installation requirements before accepting a quotation. Acceptance confirms approval of the quoted scope, price, specifications and these terms.

A quotation may be accepted by signed copy, email, WhatsApp message or a telephone confirmation recorded by AFG Aluminium. The quotation number should be referenced. Paying the required deposit also confirms acceptance of the quotation and these terms. Manufacture or procurement begins only after the required payment has cleared and the final schedule has been approved in writing.

02

Validity, pricing and corrections

Each quotation states its own validity period. After that period, AFG Aluminium may revise the price to reflect changes in aluminium, glass, hardware, transport, labour or other input costs. Where no discount is shown, prices are nett.

Obvious clerical, arithmetic or description errors may be corrected. If a material discrepancy is identified after acceptance, AFG Aluminium will notify the customer and agree the correction before the affected work continues.

If a project is divided into separate manufacturing phases, the original quotation may be withdrawn and replaced with quotations for each phase.

03

Payment terms

The payment schedule shown on the accepted quotation applies. AFG Aluminium's usual installation schedule is a 50% deposit to begin manufacture, a further 45% before installation and the final 5% on completion. Some projects may use a different written schedule, including a 60% deposit and 40% balance.

Supply-only orders must be paid in full before collection or delivery. Projects below R8,000 may require full payment in advance. Additional work may require payment sufficient to bring the deposit held to 60% of the revised project value.

Funds must reflect in AFG Aluminium's account before manufacture, collection, delivery or installation proceeds where payment is due. Proof of payment alone is not confirmation that funds have cleared. Electronic bank transfer is preferred and cheques are not accepted.

04

Changes and customer approvals

Quotations are based on the information and site conditions disclosed when the price is prepared. Changes to the scope, dimensions, specifications, access or site conditions may affect price and lead time and will be quoted separately where necessary.

Once manufacture has started, changes may not be possible. Any approved change must be recorded in writing. The customer is responsible for reviewing documents and identifying errors before approval.

After paying the deposit, the customer must nominate one responsible contact person to finalise details, approve schedules and communicate instructions. AFG Aluminium is not responsible for conflicting instructions from multiple parties after sign-off.

05

Site conditions, access and working hours

Installation pricing assumes reasonable access and accurate disclosure of site conditions. Unexpected structural conditions, restricted access, additional lifting equipment, delays outside AFG Aluminium's control or work outside the agreed scope may result in additional charges and programme changes.

Installations and deliveries normally take place on weekdays from 07:30 to 16:45. Installation teams usually arrive between 09:00 and 11:00 and aim to leave by 16:00. Extended hours are at AFG Aluminium's discretion.

Collection hours are weekdays from 08:00 to 16:00 and Fridays until 14:00. After-hours, weekend or public-holiday work must be agreed in advance, is charged at a higher rate and must be paid in full before the work proceeds.

Body corporate, shopping centre, estate or building access restrictions must be disclosed when requesting the quotation. Additional labour or delay costs caused by undisclosed restrictions may be charged separately. Repair bookings assume that an authorised person will be available on site during normal hours.

06

Supply-only orders, collection and delivery

Supply-only products are tested and may be video recorded before wrapping and dispatch. A collecting customer may request a demonstration at collection. For a delivery, the customer may arrange to inspect the product at the factory before dispatch.

Signing the collection or delivery note records the apparent condition of the goods at handover. If wrapped goods are opened for a requested demonstration, the cost of new wrapping may be charged.

The customer is responsible for correct transport, storage, handling and installation after handover where AFG Aluminium is not contracted to perform those services. This does not limit any rights that cannot lawfully be excluded.

07

Cancellations, refunds and ownership

Custom manufacture, procurement and reserved installation time create costs from the start of a project. If a customer cancels or materially delays the work, AFG Aluminium may retain or charge a reasonable amount for work completed, materials ordered or manufactured, site visits, administration and other losses actually incurred, subject to applicable law.

Where manufacturing has begun, cancellation or refund options may be limited because products are made to the customer's approved dimensions and specifications. Any amount refundable will be calculated after deducting lawful and reasonable costs already incurred.

Ownership of goods remains with AFG Aluminium until the full amount due has been paid.

08

Guarantees

The following commercial guarantees run from the date of collection, delivery or installation, as applicable. They are additional to any rights and remedies that cannot be excluded under South African law.

1 year

Workmanship

For installations completed by AFG Aluminium.

5 years

Hardware

Subject to correct use and applicable manufacturer conditions.

15 years

Powder coating

Subject to the coating supplier's conditions and exclusions.

30 years

Glass delamination

Limited to qualifying delamination and applicable glass-supplier conditions.

A commercial guarantee applies only where the product has been paid for in full and has been used, installed, maintained and handled correctly. It may not apply where the product has been altered, repaired or fitted with non-approved parts without AFG Aluminium's written approval.

Subject to applicable law, an accepted claim may be resolved by repair or replacement. Any replacement or repair under a commercial guarantee is covered for the remainder of the original guarantee period, unless the law requires otherwise.

09

Guarantee exclusions and claims

Commercial guarantees do not cover damage caused by third-party transport, handling or installation; misuse; negligence; accidents; normal wear and tear; abnormal environmental exposure; failure to maintain the product; or installation that does not meet applicable technical or safety standards. Flush bolts are excluded from the commercial hardware guarantee but may be replaced at the customer's cost.

To make a claim, contact AFG Aluminium promptly with the quotation or invoice number, photographs, a description of the issue and the installation or collection date. AFG Aluminium may reasonably inspect and test the product before deciding the claim.

For supply-only orders, the product may need to be returned to the AFG Aluminium factory at the customer's cost for assessment, except where applicable law places that cost on AFG Aluminium. On-site assistance in Gauteng may be offered where practical and agreed.

10

Responsibility and limitation of liability

Customers acting for an owner, tenant, business or other end-user are responsible for obtaining that party's approval of the schedule and technical details. If requested, AFG Aluminium may confirm technical details directly with the end-user, but pricing remains confidential to the customer.

To the extent permitted by law, AFG Aluminium is not liable for indirect, special or consequential loss, including loss of income, delay or inconvenience, arising from a defect or project delay. Nothing in these terms excludes liability or a customer remedy that may not lawfully be excluded.

These terms are governed by the laws of South Africa. If a quotation contains a project-specific term that differs from this page, the accepted quotation applies to that project. No change to an accepted agreement is effective unless recorded in writing by the parties.
